After an early morning flight from Edinburgh to London, we arrived at the Marriott in Grosvenor Square for the 2018 Drum Search Awards. Now in its fourth year, the event brings together the individuals and companies at the forefront of the Search Industry to celebrate their achievements across SEO and PPC. It’s not every day that you get to attend a black tie event of this calibre, so there was an immediate air of excitement (mixed with pre-award jitters!) upon setting foot in the hotel.
We were treated to a buzzing drinks reception, a great set from stand-up comedian Geoff Norcott and a delicious three course meal. However, the focal point of the night was undoubtedly the awards ceremony itself. With several awards up for grabs, we waited in trepidation for our nominated categories to come up.
When the fateful moment arrived, we were thrilled to walk away with The Drum award for ‘SEO – Best Use of Content’. Our Art of Luxury Watchmaking campaign for ROX was the big winner, helping to demonstrate the benefits of producing long-form, high-quality content. Designed to reflect the high level of skill and craftsmanship that goes into creating luxury watches, the campaign has produced brilliant results for ROX as well as being the topic of a DMA Copywriting Club session. It’s an honour to have our hard work acknowledged by other professionals within the industry.
On the night, we were also Highly Commended in the ‘SEO – Best Retail/E-Commerce Campaign’ category. Again, this was for our work with ROX – you can read our case study about some of that activity.
It was a real pleasure to attend the awards, celebrate the win and to see the work other companies within the industry have produced – a big thank you to The Drum for hosting such an excellent night. The mix of pride, great company and bubbly, of course, made the journey home the next day a bit more difficult, but it was definitely one of Yard’s highlights of the year… so far.
