Meet the Yardies – Ajay & Shannon

16th May 2019 by Scott McPate | News & Events

In April we spoke to Euros from Cardiff and Ewelina from the Edinburgh office. We have another two interviewees to get to know this month as we ask Ajay and Shannon a few questions.

Ajay

Cardiff

How long have you worked at Yard?

11 Months

Describe what your typical day looks like from start to finish.

My tasks vary each day. Normally, I pick up work from our support box and try to work through those tasks as efficiently as possible, especially if it’s urgent.

What projects are you working on at the moment?

Currently, I’m working across a few different clients such as The White Company, British Gas and Camelot.

What’s your favourite or most memorable ad/marketing campaign?

What’s the best thing about your job?

As every day is varied, I often get thrown new challenges with each piece of work. So it never gets boring at Yard.

What’s the biggest challenge you face in your job?

The work can be unpredictable and requires a bit of problem-solving to get through some of the issues raised by clients. I’m also not a morning person so Monday mornings can be a bit slow.

Narcos

When I’m not at work, I…

I am either playing badminton, at the movies or going for a drive with my friends.

What are your all-time favourite movies?

  • The Dark Knight
  • Warrior
  • Fight Club

Shannon Reilly - Content Executive

Name or what you like to be called:

Shannon, though my boyfriend and best friend call me Shiney

How long have you worked at Yard?

Almost a year and a half, time flies.

What office are you based in?

I’m based in the small but mighty Edinburgh office.

What team are you in?

I have recently moved into the Edinburgh Content Team, coming from the Outreach Team.

Describe what your typical day looks like from start to finish.

Well, this is a tough one as my days are quite varied. It starts with responding to emails while I sIurp my coffee, planning my day, then check the progress on any outstanding outreach activity that I’ve been involved with. I’m then liaising with freelancers to create content for clients, briefing them in, proofing or giving feedback on their work. Usually, there’s some brainstorming for content/outreach campaigns and supporting both teams where necessary. I like to get involved with any events/social media too where possible!

What projects are you working on at the moment?

I’m working with an illustrator and Thomas to push a romantic guide to the Isle of Skye live for ROX – it’s looking great so far. I’m excited to see it go live and start getting the links in for our client.

What’s your favourite or most memorable ad/marketing campaign?

What’s the best thing about your job?

I like the variety of clients we work with and opportunities to be creative with the content we produce and the results we generate.

What’s the biggest challenge you face in your job?

Keeping on top of all the madness can be challenging, #AgencyLife. I’ve also recently been promoted into a new team so I’m still getting up to speed with everything.

Recommend a TV series that we all need to watch!

GoT, Peaky Blinders… or (it’s a bit niche) Ru Paul’s Drag Race is great if you’re ever feeling down.

When I’m not at work, I…

I love travelling anywhere and everywhere – I’m going to Bali in June and I can’t wait! I’m also a bit of a country bumpkin and I love the outdoors.

What are your five top tracks of the moment?

  • Peggy Gou – Starry Night
  • Late Night Feelings – Lykke Li & Nark Ronson
  • That Sound – Sam Fender
  • Waterflow – Klyne
  • The Sweetest Dub – Lord Echo
