July’s Cardiff MeasureCamp

3rd August 2017 by Nathan Stockford | Data, News & Events

On the last weekend in July, another South West MeasureCamp took place in the heart of Cardiff – offering top tips and insightful takes to keep even the most experienced participants occupied!

The two-day extravaganza started on the Friday with our very own team of Yardies volunteering their time to offer training in basic R and advanced Google Analytics to any interested attendees.

Then Saturday saw the usual unconference taking place right on Yard’s doorstep – as sponsors we couldn’t not show our faces, but the whole team agreed at the end of the day that it had been more than worthwhile!

Examples of some of our favourite sessions included one on advanced Google Analytics settings, a packed out ‘Customising Analytics’ discussion by Anna Lewis and Russell McAthy’s famous ‘Ask the Experts’ session.

It was also great to see Yard partner and headline MeasureCamp sponsor ObservePoint at the event demonstrating how their product can help make your job easier by auditing and testing new and existing tracking on your pages. ObservePoint is a tool built to take the hard work from the end user and display the results in an easy to read tool.

Lots of members of the Yard team in Cardiff were indispensable when it came to the build up to the event, all getting their hands dirty and making sure the event was set up and ready to go. During the event itself though, it was Ben James’ discussion that stole the limelight as he opened the day with a fantastic discussion on validating tags and best practice.

Packing out a meeting room overlooking the famous Principality Stadium pitch was a pretty heady experience for Ben – we’re actually a bit concerned now that he’ll start demanding that his desk is kept fully stocked with M&M’s sorted by colour

Couldn’t make it to the event? The slides from the day will be uploaded online shortly, and there’s plenty of upcoming events to add to your calendars including:

• PPC & SEO Meet up Bristol: 1st August – First Tuesday of each month
• WordPress Meetup: 22nd August
• Bristol Analytics Meetup: August 2017
• Cardiff SEO Meet: November 2017
• Bristol MeasureCamp: Watch this space!
