We’ve hit the halfway mark folks – with only 147 days till Christmas (sorry!!) it feels like this year is flying by.
So what better time to reflect on the year so far?
2019 has seen Yard develop and adopt new vision and mission statements – that better align with our goals and outlook:

We’ve seen unprecedented growth over the last year and a half – and with no sign of stopping, we’re focused on the future!
We formalised Yard as a client at the end of last year, meaning that we now truly practice what we preach. We crunched the numbers and realised that we had over 150 years of combined experience – which is concentrated on providing only the best to our clients… So why should we treat Yard any differently? By dedicating time to develop and refine our own marketing strategy – we’re opening new doors and shouting about all the great work that we’re doing
We’ve also been focusing on providing our clients with an expansive agency experience. We are the whole package after all *wink* – from our data analysis services to our tailored content creation and outreach services.
It’s been a busy month at Yard HQ – from introducing a new data layer implementation service and hosting another event, to welcoming new faces and changing up team structures.
We also want to give a special shoutout to three very hard-working Yardies – Beth, Yogesh and Lewis who have all graduated this month! Congratulations, your hard work paid off!

Yard Insights 5.0
On the 9th of July, we held our 5th #YardInsights event – this time at Yard HQ in Cardiff.
The event, which looked at how data science can be used in the commercial world was another roaring success, thanks to our sales and marketing team.
We welcomed two key speakers to take us through cultivating a data science team, data science modelling and the importance of data across all marketing channels.
Jan Teichmann – Senior Data Scientist at Zoopla
Jan is a proven leader in the data transformation efforts of global companies. At Zoopla, he leads the data science team in driving great innovations from vast amounts of property market data, behavioural data, geodata, property images and text data sets.
Jan wowed us with his vast knowledge of the real-life challenges of data science, and with his proven solutions and strategies straight from the front lines.
He laid out the requirements for success in data science, along with the real challenge of developing commercial success and the common misconceptions.

Max Cheetham – Scientific Programmer at Cubed
An experienced scientific programmer and published academic – Max was the driving force behind implementing algorithmic attribution models in the Cubed tool.
Max gave the audience a run-through of CUBED’s attribution model and how it can be utilised within marketing channels to drive conversions.
New Faces Taking Us To New Places
We’ve welcomed some new faces to Team Yard and we’re really excited to be bringing in a wealth of talent, experience and that all-important Yard mindset.
Jane: Senior Account Manager – Jane is heading up our account management team and will be taking the reins on our main global search clients. Jane was previously the SEO programme manager for a national tourist board!
Tricia: Account Manager – Tricia has also joined the SEO account management team and will be supporting all account activity, along with managing some of our key clients. Tricia is a powerhouse of experience and has worked both in house and client side.
Awen: Senior Web Analytics Consultant – Awen has joined our data and insight team as a senior web analytics consultant, she’ll be implementing strategies to enhance our client’s websites. Awen brings with her 10 years’ experience in the web analytics field both agency and client side.
Beth: Junior Data Scientist – Beth has recently graduated from Cardiff University with a degree in Software Engineering. She’s joining our data science team and will be turning raw client data into actionable insights.
Divya: Junior Web Analytics Consultant – We’re soon to welcome Divya to the data and insights team. She’ll be analysing our client’s online data sets in order to make recommendations and supporting implementation.
Lauren: Content and Campaigns Manager – We’ll soon be welcoming Lauren into our content team, Lauren will be supporting content ideation, creation, and delivery across all SEO clients.

What’s on the horizon?
With summer in full swing, we’re hoping for more opportunities to sit in the ‘Yarden’ with an ice cold beer, or head out for a game of rounders with the team! The Fringe Festival is also about to take Edinburgh by storm, so look out for our Fringe show recommendations.
