This year also saw the EU search awards added to the schedule with some of the best and brightest European search marketers descending on Iceland’s capital for the ceremony and a party or two.
Bloggers including Yard’s Geoff Kennedy covered the RIMC speakers sessions as they happened with great posts going up on State of Digital and Optimize your web, check them out to get a flavour of the conference and this years theme of ‘Big Brands Online’ with highlights for me being Chris Schaumann from Nokia’s talk, Russell O’sullivan from Roland and Koen Spiers from KLM.
Alongside the trending #RIMC14 hahstag was the #gohardorgohome hashtag for the numerous meals, activities and events that speakers, attendees and award judges took part in that were mostly organised, facilitated and hosted by the infamous EU search personality of the year 2013 – Jackie Hole. Really can’t thank Jackie enough for all her hard work and organisation, supported excellently by local legends Kristjan, Haukur and Jan who showed us all world class hospitality!
Those that went hardest before going home were definitely Ned & Kaspar of Avita Digital, Copenhagen who really can party hard as the numerous pictures you might find online attest too!
Much more fun and banter was had with many of the great and the good who made it for the search awards, not least our hardcore table hosts and headline sponsors for the awards Gareth, Paul, Dom and Heather from LinkRisk the award nominated (should have been winning!) backlink auditing and analysis tool that is the go-to choice for us at Yard.

Congratulations to all the winners, but especially to event organiser, speaker host and amazing blues guitarist and harmonica player Kristjan Mar Hauksson for the very well deserved win of European Search Personality of the year 2014. Kristjan gave an excellent acceptance speech that likened the digital pioneers of today to the Gutenbergs of yesteryear. Rousing stuff, congratulations again Kristjan!
So long and thanks for all the fish Iceland….
