Join us at the Yard office as we discuss applying data science methodologies on a commercial level. The presentations will covering topics such as cultivating a data science team, data science modelling and the importance of data across all marketing channels. For the event, we have two expert speakers with Jan Teichmann Senior Data Scientist at Zoopla and Max Cheetham, Scientific Programmer at Cubed.
Jan Teichmann – How to make a success story of your data science team
Making data science a success is hard with over 75% of businesses, projects and teams failing! What are the reasons and why should we care? Jan will explore solving the real challenges of Data Science with proven solutions straight from the front lines. This will include looking at the requirements for success in data science, the differences between the real challenge to create a commercial success with data science and the common misconceptions.
Max Cheetham – Utilising machine learning to determine the true valuation of marketing channels
In this talk, Max will be running through the implementation of these models as he discusses “Utilising Machine Learning to Determine the True Valuation of Marketing Channels”, which offers a practical view on the research completed and the subsequent application of these models in a business and marketing world.

Senior Data Scientist – Zoopla
Jan is a successful leader in the data transformation efforts of companies. He previously co-founded Cambridge Energy Data Lab where they celebrated a successful exit with Enechange.jp, a utility comparison platform, which is now the market leader in Japan. He holds a PhD in Mathematics and offers a strong background in machine learning, statistical modelling and programming. At Zoopla, he leads the data science team in driving great innovations from vast amounts of property market data, behavioural data, geo data, property images and text data sets.
Scientific Programmer – Cubed
Max is an experienced scientific programmer, having been the driving force behind the implementation of algorithmic attribution models in the Cubed attribution tool. Max’s previous work has also been submitted for publishing in academic journals.
Beyond the talks, there will be an opportunity to network over complimentary breakfast and coffee.
