Job Title: Web Developer (C4)
Location: Edinburgh
Reports to: Head of Digital
Salary: DOE


This role is required to assist with the development of innovative web and mobile applications.

Ideally the candidate will have 3+ years web development experience, developing web applications with HTML, CSS, .NET, JavaScript, jQuery, Node.js, React and SASS.

They will have good experience working throughout the full development lifecycle, and they should have a working knowledge of Content Management Systems, e.g. Sitecore etc. They should be involved in the wider web development community, identifying good practices they can adopt and share with the business.


  • Developing beautiful executed, test driven consumer web applications.
  • Develop and test for cross-browser and device compatibility.
  • Sitecore CMS Application development
  • Maintain knowledge of emerging technologies, trends and standards, browser capabilities, standards compliance, and accessibility issues
  • Working in a collaborative Agile development environment
  • Working with the SRM team this role holder will support the deployment of the SRM framework for Sainsbury’s Bank partners and suppliers ensuring governance is measured in line with the SRM process, policy and risk appetite


  • Solid understanding and experience developing with .NET, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, Node.js, React and SASS including knowledge of libraries and frameworks
  • Knowledge of user experience and SEO best practices
    Previous experience with CMS development would be an advantage, e.g. Sitecore
  • Must be willing to work outside office hours if required to ensure business continuity
  • Experience in the financial services industry is beneficial
  • Well organised and able to prioritise workload in line with tight deadlines and work effectively under pressure
  • Highly numerate, with excellent analytical and problem solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent team player with ability to working closely with others to deliver results

  • Proven track record of working on own initiative, with the ability to introduce fresh thinking to the role and the wider team.
